Iguazú Falls

Iguazú or Foz do Iguaçu consists of 275 waterfalls, spanning 2 miles between the borders of  Brazil and Argentina! One of the 7 natural wonders of the world! We arrived at 8am after a 14 hour overnight bus from Florianopolis. Our bus arrived on the Brazil side, although our hostel was on the Argentina side. After our overnight bus dropped us off at the terminal, we hopped on a different bus to go to the next station, where we needed to catch yet another bus to cross the border. After two bus rides, we decided that uber would probably be quicker and ordered one to take us across the border to our hostel.  After a 15 minute drive we arrived at Bambu hostel. Only this was not the one we had booked. There happened to be one with the same name on the Brazilian side, and unfortunately, that was where we ended up. It was then that we realized you can’t uber across the border. You can only go in taxi! So we got a taxi. Finally making it to our hostel, we checked in and dropp...

Florianópolis 🌴

We spent 4 amazing, relaxing days in Florianópolis or Floripa as the locals say. Getting there was a struggle as Jenny and I missed our first flight ever out of São Paulo. Kelsey has taken a flight 2 hours before us cause there wasnt enough seats for all of us on one plane. Luckily Jenny and I were able to catch a flight 3 hours after the one we had booked, getting into Florianópolis around 6pm, enough time to watch the sunset and have a drink!  The next day we decided to do the islands best hike! It was a steep one! That morning we took an uber 45 mins to the south of the island to do the Lagoinha do Leste hike. This beach is only reachable by boat or foot and is super peaceful due to its geographic location. As one of the most preserved places on the island, this was a hidden gem! This hike itself was incredibly hard, taking two hours to reach the beach. Once we reached the beach we were stunned by the natural beauty of this lagoon, surrounded by mountains, rivers, and forest. On...

São Paulo, Brazil

We spent a whole 40 hours in this city! Luckily, we found a great flight deal to Florianopolis and didn’t have to take the 14 hour bus there so we stayed a couple nights in São Paulo in route. Our friend, Luciana, who we had met in Ilha Grande let us stay at her place and showed us a great time around the city! São Paulo is a huge city, bigger than New York City! They even have a service similar to uber but for helicopters, as commutes can be hours. So throughout the city, you will see helicopter pads for landing, and for a price you can uber via helicopter around the city!  Mural by Kobra, a famous Brazilian artist, whose work is seen all throughout the city. All  of his murals are depicted in kaleidoscope theme using bold lines and bright colors. He uses a pattern of repetitive triangles and squares to bring famous people to life.  One of our favorite things in São Paulo was visiting to the market, Mercado municipal de São Paulo! There we tried so many n...
