Florian贸polis 馃尨

We spent 4 amazing, relaxing days in Florian贸polis or Floripa as the locals say. Getting there was a struggle as Jenny and I missed our first flight ever out of S茫o Paulo. Kelsey has taken a flight 2 hours before us cause there wasnt enough seats for all of us on one plane. Luckily Jenny and I were able to catch a flight 3 hours after the one we had booked, getting into Florian贸polis around 6pm, enough time to watch the sunset and have a drink!

The next day we decided to do the islands best hike!

It was a steep one!

That morning we took an uber 45 mins to the south of the island to do the Lagoinha do Leste hike. This beach is only reachable by boat or foot and is super peaceful due to its geographic location. As one of the most preserved places on the island, this was a hidden gem! This hike itself was incredibly hard, taking two hours to reach the beach. Once we reached the beach we were stunned by the natural beauty of this lagoon, surrounded by mountains, rivers, and forest.

Once you reach the beach, after trekking through the mountains and forest, you have the option of another super steep 30 mins climb to reach sweeping views over looking the beach! So after swimming in the ocean bit we started our second climb.

View halfway up to the top

After 30 heart pounding minutes in the hot beating down sun you reach this view!

Giving everyone up there a heart attack!

This hike was my favorite thing we did in Floripa! Definitely do this hike if you ever get the chance to go!

We did just one other hike in Floripa and I would no recommend this one! It was a killer and had no shade at all for 3 hours! We were dying!! Barra da Lagoa hike from the town of Barra will take you to Galheta beach, the only naked beach in Floripa.

Leaving Galheta beach, only 1.5 hour hike back..

The rest of our time in Floripa was spent on the beach, at a pool party, morning runs around the city, and eating and drinking.

Glad Kelsey “forced” me to go!

Our favorite caipirinha stand on the beach! These two were amazing! Husband and wife  ran the stand, together making drinks, sandwiches and a莽a铆. They made us all kinds of caipirinha and they were the best we have ever had!

When in Brazil! National drink!

We loved Floripa! Unfortunately, we missed our bus to Iguazu Falls our last day here. We knew the bus station was an hour away, so we thought ordering an uber 95 mins in advance was enough time, we thought wrong. Panic started to strike when it said 25 mins for uber to arrive. Which baffled us because it took 5 mins to get one for our hike the day before. So we got in the uber with 65 mins to our bus time. The uber driver was amazing, trying to rush us to our bus but unfortunately traffic was so bad and the eta just kept increased. So we got to the station 15 mins late, hoping our bus was delayed but it wasn’t ☹️. The next bus wasn’t to leave until 4pm the next day so we had to book accommodations for one night in the city center. And since we booked a flight from Iguazu Falls to Buenos Aires, we would only have one day to see the falls. Usually two days is needed to see both sides, as you can see the falls from both the Brazil side and the Argentina side. So we decided we would arrive off our bus at 8am and do the Argentina side, stay the night and fly out in the morning.
